A historic handshake between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou turned a new page of cross-Straits relations.
It was the first summit between the two sides since 1949 when Kuomintang lost the civil war to the Communists and retreated to Taiwan.
Though there was no concrete agreement, the meeting, held in Singapore, is hailed as a milestone in cross-Straits relations and reinforced the one-China policy set forth in the 1992 Consensus.
