China staged a spectacular V-Day parade at the Tiananmen Square on September 3, marking the 70 anniversary of the end of the World War II. President Xi Jinping pledged the country would cut troops by 300,000 and stick to a path of peaceful development.
To guarantee blue skies for the military parade, Beijing banned half of the vehicles from the roads for 15 days to reduce emissions of air pollutants.
