The conviction is still pending for China’s worst industrial disaster in years. A series of blasts at a warehouse for hazardous chemicals in Tianjin on August 12 killed 173 people and injured nearly 800. The warehouse was found illegally storing much more combustible chemicals than authorized and located within one kilometer of residential compounds.
The work safety regulator has been under investigation and a dozen executives of the warehouse company were arrested. But no one is found guilty yet.
