Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed three hopes for the two-day Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation in Beijing on May 14 and 15 during a Leaders' Roundtable Summit on Monday.

He said the forum should not only promote mutual benefit and cooperation on a more open platform, but also enhance coordination in terms of policies and development strategy, as well as deepen pragmatic cooperation.

29 heads of state, government and international organization attended the Leaders’ Roundtable Summit on Monday, which was hosted by Xi.

Monday’s summit had two parts discussing deepening partnership with Belt and Road countries and connectivity.

A joint communique was issued after the Leaders Roundtable, showing common views of the participants.

During a welcoming ceremony on Sunday, President Xi said the Leaders’ Roundtable was set to map out a cooperative plan under the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Leaders’ Roundtable Summit was held at the Yanqi Lake International Convention Center in Beijing where the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit was held in 2014.
