Zhang Yingying, a visiting scholar in the United States from China, has not been found since she got into a car at a bus stop on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus on June 9, 2017.

On June 30, 2017, the FBI arrested and charged Brandt Allen Christensen, a Champaign resident and former physics graduate student of the university, with kidnapping Zhang. Based on evidence uncovered during the investigation, law enforcement officials said they believed Zhang was no longer alive, with her body still to be found.

The University of Illinois Police Department is still searching for Zhang, with updates on its website.
