1. New leadership unveiled

Xi Jinping was elected the new general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission during the 18th National Congress in November. During his first address to the media, he spoke of “people” 18 times, which was hailed as the most pragmatic speech by a leader. Without heavy traffic control and red carpet, Xi practiced what he preaches in the battle against corruption and officialdom during his first tour of the country in Guangdong province since he assumed the post. His low-profile approach was highly acclaimed by the people who are looking forward to more progress and reform.
