Colorful Sayram Lake in Xinjiang

The national level scenic spot Sayram Lake is located in the west of Yining(伊宁) City, Xingjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. The lake in a basin which is located in the north way of the Silk Road and it has 90km to the southwest of Bole(博乐) City. The Urumchi – Lli Road along the south bank of the lake. The Sayram Lake is famous for its beautiful and mysterious natural landscape. People naming the lake “Ru Sea” in the past, the Ele Zhuoyi Tubo Wood Army Office (an organization to deliver the messages to the army) was set there in the Qing Dynasty. The lake’s elevation is 2073 meters, 30km long and 25km wide. The circumference of the lake is 90km and the water covers an area of 455-460 square kilometers. The lake is oval shape and the depth of water is 92 meters and it can store 21 billion cubic meters water. It is also the highest and the largest cold water lake in Xingjiang.
