2) Beijing Wuyutai Tea shops(吴裕泰茶庄)

 

Wuyutai, founded in 1887 by Wu Xiqing from Anhui Province, has long been a very popular tea brand in Beijing. Over the past 126 years, Wuyutai has grown from a small tea house to an industrial bellwether engaged in a number of tea-related businesses. Its more than 200 franchised stores sell a variety of Chinese teas, as well as tea-flavored moon cakes, ice cream, cuisines and tea ware sets. Its jasmine tea is also a favorite of the tea lovers in the city. In 2008, Wuyutai, an exclusive supplier for the Beijing Olympics, provided 1.5 million packets of bagged-tea for delegates and athletes.

Yuanchanghou, founded in Hebei Province in 1912, was relocated to Beijing in 1930. In 1987, a new Yuangchuanghou was formed through the merger of six time-honored tea brands in Beijing. 4) Maliandao Tea Town(马连道茶城)

 

Founded in 2000, Maliandao Tea Town is located in the middle section of Maliandao Tea Street, which is often called "China's No. 1 tea street." The Tea Town, which covers 68,000 square meters, is a large-scaled market for tea wholesale and retail. This most famous of the ten "tea towns" in the street gathers more than 300 tea suppliers from across the country, offering over 500 varieties of tea, as well as tea wares and other handicrafts. It also showcases local tea ceremonies and rich Chinese tea cultures. At Maliandao, tea lover can find any tea they can imagine. Visitors are also allowed to sample teas as they decide whether to purchase.

 

Other tea towns in the 120,000-square-meter Maliandao Tea Street, in which more than 3,000 tea companies operate, include Jingmin Tea Town, Beijing International Tea Town, Qingxi Tea Town, Chayuan Tea Town and Jinghua Tea Town. Its annual sale revenues reach more than 4.2 billion yuan ($668.8 million), accounting for about 10 percent of the national total. 5) Beijing Geng Xiang Tea Shops (北京更香茶店)

 

Founded in 1998, Beijing Geng Xiang Tea Co. Ltd is best-known for leading the organic tea market. The company's tea plantations at its four tea cultivation bases cover more than 5333 ha, over 4,000 ha of which are covered by organic plants. Geng Xiang boasts more than 230 franchised stores across the country, with annual sales revenues of 400 million yuan (US$63.7 million).

Beijing Er Shang Jinghua Tea Industry, a subsidiary of Beijing Er Shang Group, was formed in 1950 by the merger of Beijing Tea Corporation and Beijing Lvshiyuan Food Co. Ltd. The company is best known for its scented "Jinghua" brand tea, which, registered in 1983, was the first tea trademark since the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949. The company has two tea trade markets in the Maliandao Tea Street, Jinghua Yuancha Market and Beijing International Tea Town. 7) Beijing Zhengxingde Tea Shops(北京正兴德茶庄)

 

Zhengxingde is the only Muslim tea-producing company in Beijing. Founded in 1738, Zhengxingde is a time-honored brand most famous for its jasmine tea, which is made with the tender spring tea shoots picked in the north and east of Fujian Province. Zhengxingde sells more than 100 varieties of tea in seven different categories: scented tea, green tea, black tea, Oolong tea, dark tea, white tea and yellow tea.

10)         Tenfu Tea (Tianfu Mingcha) Tea Shops(天福茗茶)

 

Fujian-based Tenfu Corporation, founded by Lee Rie-Ho in 1993, is said to be the world's largest tea company. Ten Fu, which has more than 1,000 franchised tea stores around China, produces a number of well-known brands, including Tenfu, Ten Xin, Dan Feng and Uncle Lee. The company's business integrates the whole supply chain, from harvesting, processing, packaging, retail, and R&D. Currently, it has dozens of franchised stores in Beijing.
